Brennan Counseling and Personal Growth
Each of us, as a result of more or less traumatic events and situations in our lives, has lost important parts of oneself along the way. These missing pieces are felt daily through discomfort and suffering or through a numbness as an attempt to suppress the pain. Since the natural and instinctive parts of ourselves always lead us to a state of completeness, by reconnecting with the longings present within us, we are called daily to recover these pieces and put back together the wholeness of our true self.
Brennan Counseling consists of one-on-one sessions for those who wish to dedicate themselves to their personal growth as they might be experiencing a difficult moment in their lives. Through the observation of the energy field and using specific techniques, I help the person to better understand him or herself and the possible causes of their condition. Since this is holistic work, every part of the individual is involved in this process, which includes the mental, emotional, physical and spiritual levels.
Brennan Counseling focuses on what our life is asking us to pay attention to in the present moment. Everything is already present right now, without necessarily having to go searching in our past. It might be present in our bodies, in our minds on an unconscious level, in our latent emotions, in our spiritual realm or anywhere else in our energy field. We already have all the necessary elements to deal with our current and past issues, as well as to take the next step on our path of personal growth. Therefore, by observing our thoughts, our emotions and our physical manifestations, we find the keys to better understand what we are experiencing in this phase of our life and, through this awareness, choose the direction we feel is right for us.
Each sphere of our being plays an essential role in this regard, since a system in balance is one that allows each area of our selves (physical, emotional, mental and spiritual) to exist and express itself. And that is why we choose to listen to each of them.
THE EMOTIONAL SPHERE
The emotional sphere is often the part that requires the most attention, both because of the clear predominance of the mental one in modern life, and because of a social habit of repressing those emotions usually defined as "negative" (anger, fear, sadness, pain among the most common). Not knowing how to express these emotions or doing so in the unhealthy way we may have learned from our parents is why we tend to suppress them.
We are often accompanied by beliefs such as:
"If I let my anger out, I will hurt someone." (as may have been done to us);
"If I allow myself to feel the fear inside, it will paralyze me and I wouldn't be able to leave the house." (as may have happened with anxiety or panic attacks to us or someone we know);
"If I allow myself to feel my pain, it will be so strong and so intense that I will be completely overwhelmed by it." (as may have happened with depression-like manifestations to us or someone we know).
Like any energetic manifestation, no emotion can truly be eliminated and therefore it has to go somewhere. This attempt to suppress our emotions therefore results in a combination of unhealthy dynamics, physical ailments and inner discomforts in our everyday lives. When we try to suppress our life force, in one way or another there are repercussions at all levels of our system and our life.
Embracing without judgment and learning to express each of these emotions in a healthy way is an essential key to regaining a large part of our personal well-being.
THE MENTAL SPHERE
On a psychological level, it is important to pay attention to how reflections of the past affect our present, as today's ailments are often manifestations of ancient wounds that come into reaction with present situations. Thus, by observing our thoughts, reactions, projections, and belief systems, we are better able to understand why we and our lives are the way they are today.
The PHYSICAL SPHERE
Our body knows best what we need to be well. And although we don’t often listen to it, it speaks to us constantly nonetheless. Learning to listen to its messages is an indispensable step in facing today's difficulties and starting a dialogue with our greatest and most reliable ally. Our body is incapable of lying and continually provides us with valuable feedback about our lives, such as:
which people are good for us;
which jobs are right for us;
what food is good for our organism moment by moment;
how much rest we need;
and much more.
Through simple energy and relaxation techniques, we can establish a connection and have a real dialogue with our body as a whole, as well as with specific parts of it. At this point, learning to listen to ourselves and trust what we feel, becomes an invaluable tool in our daily lives to lead an existence that is much healthier and more peaceful.
The Energetic sphere
From an energetic perspective, what is present in us at every level (mental, emotional, physical, etc.) is also present in the energy field in the form of energetic movements or blockages. In the course of the sessions, as I do, the client too becomes more and more capable of perceiving these manifestations and tracing their movement within their body. As a result, outside of the healing space, this ability the person has acquired proves to be a valuable tool in everyday life to continue the work of observing and processing what is happening within him or herself.
the spiritual sphere
We all live our own spiritual reality. This can be related to religious, philosophical, natural or any other kind of aspects. As with the other spheres of our being, our spiritual reality needs our attention, without necessarily falling into pre-established structures, it is a matter of cultivating our spiritual truth in the form that works best for us, in order to maintain or regain our inner balance and personal well-being.
The intent of this work on all levels is to connect with the deepest and most authentic parts of ourselves and to feel what is really going on within them. Since our system always tends toward health, the moment we allow it to operate freely, it almost always brings itself back into balance. Most of the time, what creates imbalance is the contrast between what we think is the "normal" way we should live and what we feel is the "natural" way. The former is the reasoning that comes from our minds, the latter is the feeling that comes from our bodies. When we are uncertain whether we want to follow what we ‘feel is natural’ for us or what we ‘think is normal’, then a significant inner conflict emerges accompanied by a range of symptoms and discomforts. Recognizing this conflict (and the constellation of all other conflicts) and aligning ourselves with our inner truth is the key to returning to balance and regaining our mental and physical health.
